Patna: The Bill & Milinda Gates Foundation has given 15,000 Covid-19 test kits to Bihar at a time when coronavirus curve is going steeper. The kits were transported from Singapore to Patna via Mumbai and Lucknow.
Bihar State Health Society’s Executive Director Manoj Kumar said that the state had already 10,000 coronavirus test kits but with 15,000 more kits, it has now adequate test kits. He said that Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) is also providing kits.
With 12 persons including 10 family members and relatives of a person testing coronavirus positive in Bihar on Thursday, the total number of coronavirus patients has risen to 51 in the state so far. Principal Secretary, Health, Sanjay Kumar said that 10 cases were reported from Siwan district and two from Begusarai. He said members of three families contracted dreaded virus by coming in contact with relatives, having travel histories to the Middle East. The patients included two girls in their teens, a 10-year-old boy, five women in the age group of 20 to 50 and two men in their 30s.
