New Delhi: The Election Commission today announced the schedule for bye-election in 3 Assembly constituencies of Odisha, Kerala and Uttarakhand. The elections will be held on May 31, 2022, and the results will be out on June 5, 2022.
The last date for withdrawal of candidature in Odisha and Uttarakhand has been kept on May 17, 2022, because May 16 is a public holiday (Buddha Purnima) as per the Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881. However, the last day for withdrawal of candidature in Kerala is May 16, 2022.
The Model Code of Conduct shall come into force with immediate effect in the district(s) in which the whole or any part of the Assembly constituency going for election is included, subject to partial modification as issued by the Commission on June 29, 2017.
The Commission said all activities will be strictly complied with as per the COVID-19 guidelines issued by competent authorities.
