Two government school teachers shot dead by terrorists in Srinagar today
Union Minister Naqvi says evil forces will not be allowed to succeed in their nefarious designs to hijack the atmosphere of peace and prosperity in Jammu-Kashmir
Budgaon: The Centre today responded through Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, to the continued targeted killings in Kashmir. In all seven persons were killed by militants in Kashmir Valley since Saturday – the Gandhi Jayanti day.
Two government school teachers Deepak Chand and Supinder Kaur, who was the principal of the school, were shot dead by militants at their school premises of Government Boys Higher Secondary School in Eidgah area of Srinagar around 11.15 am today.
Yesterday a prominent Kashmiri Pandit businessman, chemist shop owner Makahn Lal Bindroo, who ran two medical stores in Srinagar including one started by his family in 1947, was among three persons killed in a series of attacks by suspected militants. The other two persons who were gunned down by terrorists were a street food vendor, Virender Paswan, who hailed from Bihar, and a taxi stand association president in Bandipora.
Earlier on Saturday October 2, 2021, militants shot dead Majid Ahmad Gojri, at Srinagar’s Karan Nagar locality, and later that night gunned down Mohammad Shafi Dar at Batmaloo.
Naqvi said evil forces will not be allowed to succeed in their nefarious designs to hijack the atmosphere of peace and prosperity in Jammu-Kashmir through terrorism and violence. Addressing various programmes during foundation stone laying/inauguration of different development projects in Budgam, Jammu-Kashmir today, Naqvi said that perpetrators of killings of innocent people will be “eliminated”.
J&K’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha too took to twitter today to “strongly condemn the barbaric killing” the two teachers. He stated that a “befitting reply will be given to the perpetrators of the heinous terror attacks on innocent people,” Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha wrote on Twitter.
Naqvi also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has replaced “Parikrama Politics” with “Perfect Performance”. He claimed, “It has ensured that Jammu- Kashmir, Ladakh have also been moving forward on the path of prosperity by eradicating the disease of terrorism and separatism.”
J&K’s Director General of Police Dilbag Singh claimed today that terrorists are “acting on the directions of Pakistan”. Srinagar Mayor Junaid Azim Mattu too claimed that “the elements backed by Pakistan are behind this”.
Meawhile following today’s killing of the two teachers, the All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) “strongly” condemned the killing of two government teachers by militants and called upon Sikhs who were government employees, to boycott work till their safety is ensured. “The Sikh youth who are working in different government departments should boycott their duties and sit at their homes as long as their security is not ensured by the government,” APSCC chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina said in a statement.
