Tel Aviv/Jerusalem: Two Hamas terrorists killed three people and wounded five others and another person who fired at the terrorists was mistakenly killed by other responders at a bus stop near the main entrance to Jerusalem city at around 7:40 am today. The attack came a few hours after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated that the first goal of Israel was the “elimination” of Hamas. The terrorists were later killed in a return of fire by two off-duty soldiers and an armed civilian.
The terror attack was carried out in Israel by Hamas on the seventh day of the humanitarian pause today. Claiming that Hamas violated the ceasefire and also fired rockets at Israel, the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) has reportedly renewed attacks on Hamas.
Earlier on the night of November 29, 2023, Netanyahu, in a “lengthy and in-depth” meeting with council heads from communities in the area adjacent to the Gaza Strip, under its new name, the ‘Tekuma Region’, spelt his goals stating, “The first goal is the elimination of Hamas. The second goal is returning all of our hostages. The third goal is to ensure that after Hamas is eliminated, the Gaza Strip does not go back to being a threat to the State of Israel, to any part of the State of Israel”.
Today, IDF also reported a “ramming attack” carried out at an IDF checkpoint adjacent to Moshav Beka’ot, in the Jordan Valley area, in which two IDF soldiers sustained injuries while the Israeli forces shot and neutralized the assailant.
US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken, who met the Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant in Tel Aviv, referred to the terrorist attack and said, “We want every hostage to come home. And so we look to see if this can continue. Certainly, that would be a good thing. It’s also allowed much more humanitarian assistance to get into the Gazans who need it, but it’s going to be up to Hamas whether they will continue to do this”.
Gallant told Blinken “We are going to fight Hamas till we prevail, no matter how long it takes. It’s a just war. It’s a war to end Hamas, the ISIS of Gaza. And it’s a war to bring the hostages back home – as long as it takes”.
Earlier, Prime Minister Netanyahu asserted before the council heads from communities in the area adjacent to the Gaza Strip that Israel was “committed” to settlement in the area adjacent to the Gaza Strip, to rebuilding the kibbutzim that were attacked and to restoring security. Thereupon, the Tekuma Authority Director Moshe Edri presented Netanyahu with the plan for rebuilding the communities in the area adjacent to the Gaza Strip.
