New Delhi/Darbhanga: After laying the foundation stone and inaugurating various development projects worth around Rs 12,100 crore in Darbhanga today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Bihar again, this time in Jamui on the occasion of Janjatiya Gaurav Divas on November 15, 2024.
Modi will participate in the commencement of the 150th Birth Anniversary Year celebration of Dharti Aaba Bhagwan Birsa Munda in Jamui. At around 11 am on November 15, he will unveil a commemorative coin and postal stamp in honour of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. He will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth over Rs 6,640 crore aimed at uplifting tribal communities and improving infrastructure in rural and remote areas of the region.
The Prime Minister will participate in the Grih Pravesh of 11,000 Awas built under ‘Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan’ (PM-JANMAN). He will inaugurate 23 Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) launched under PM-JANMAN and an additional 30 MMUs under ‘Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan’ (DAJGUA) to enhance healthcare access in tribal areas. He will further inaugurate 300 Van Dhan Vikas Kendras (VDVKs) to promote tribal entrepreneurship and support livelihood generation and 10 Eklavya Model Residential Schools, worth around Rs 450 crore, dedicated to tribal students.
He will also inaugurate two Tribal Freedom Fighters’ Museums in Chhindwara and Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh and two Tribal Research Institutes in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir and Gangtok, Sikkim to document and preserve the rich history and heritage of tribal communities.

Modi will lay the foundation stone of 500 km of new roads to improve connectivity in tribal regions and 100 Multi-Purpose Centres (MPCs) to act as community hubs under PM JANMAN. He will also lay the foundation stone of 25 additional Eklavya Model Residential Schools, worth over Rs 1,110 crore, furthering the commitment to quality education for tribal children.
He will further sanction various development projects that include 25,000 new Awas under PM JANMAN worth around Rs 500 crore and 1.16 lakh Awas under Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA) worth over Rs 1960 crore; 66 Hostels under PM JANMAN and 304 Hostels under DAJGUA worth over Rs. 1100 crores; 50 new Multi-Purpose Centres, 55 Mobile Medical Units and 65 Anganwadi Centres under PM JANMAN; 6 Centres of Competency for Sickle Cell Anaemia elimination along with 330 projects for upgradation of Ashram Schools, hostels, Government Residential Schools among others under DAJGUA, worth around Rs 500 crore.
Today in Darbhanga, Modi underlined that Bihar along with the entire India was witnessing the progress of major developmental targets. He added that unlike in the past when the schemes and projects were just on paper, today they are being successfully implemented on the ground.
The Prime Minister lauded Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for developing a model of good governance. He said that the “double-engine” government is committed to fast-paced development in Bihar and working on the roadmap to strengthen the small farmers and industries. He said that Bihar’s identity is getting a boost with the infrastructural development, airports and expressways, as he credited the Udan scheme for the development of a new airport in Darbhanga. He also mentioned other development projects of today including expressways worth Rs 5,500 crore and a City Gas Distribution (CGD) network worth around Rs 3,400 crore. “Mahayajna of development is taking Bihar to new heights”, the Prime Minister said, adding that new employment opportunities are being created.
The Prime Minister said that the development of farmers, Makhana producers and fisheries sectors in the region are the top priorities for the government. He informed that the farmers of Bihar have received more than Rs 25,000 crore under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, including farmers from Mithila. He credited the One District One Product scheme for the progress of Makhana producers and also informed that Makhana Research Center has been given the status of a national institution.
Reiterating that the government was undertaking all efforts to provide relief to the people from the recurrent floods in Kosi and Mithila, Modi said that a comprehensive plan was announced in this year’s annual budget to tackle the floods in Bihar. He expressed confidence that a solution to the floods would be arrived at with the cooperation of Nepal and related development works worth over Rs 11,000 crore were underway.
“Bihar is the biggest centre of India’s heritage,” Modi, said adding that cherishing this legacy is “a responsibility of all of us”. Therefore, he added, that the Government was following the mantra of “Vikas bhi, Virasat bhi”. The Prime Minister underlined that Nalanda University was treading forward today to reclaim its long-lost popularity.
Underlining the need for the conservation of languages, the Prime Minister mentioned that the Pali language, which scripts the teaching of Lord Buddha and Bihar’s glorious past, has been conferred the status of a Classical language. He also referred to the Maithili language being referred to in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution of India and also accorded the second language of the state in Jharkhand by his government. He also noted that Darbhanga is one of the more than 12 cities in the country to be connected with the Ramayana Circuit, thereby giving a boost to tourism. He said that the Amrit Bharat train on the Darbhanga – Sitamarhi – Ayodhya route has hugely benefited the citizens.
