Bheekampura (Alwar – Rajasthan): Water experts, activists and environmentalists who participated in a three-day ‘Water Deliberation 2020’ in this village that had taken lead about three decades ago in reviving five rivers in Rajasthan, unanimously decided to “act furtherance to catalysing all rivers which or on the path of extinction and are already dead”.
“It is unanimously resolved that, every effort be made to convince and pursue the State Governments as well as Union Government to strive and endeavour to maintain purity and continuity of small and big, minor and major rivers,” they resolved at the conclusion of the deliberations today.
The deliberations were held to mark the completion of the first leg of the world travel by Stockholm Water Prize winning conservationist Dr.Rajendra Singh, popularly known as the Waterman of India. Dr. Singh had embarked on a worldwide journey of ‘Water Literacy based on the principles of ethics and justice’ on April 17, 2015 from Gyeongju, South Korea. Spread across all the continents, the journey covered 20 countries each in Africa, Asia, and Europe along with many states in America, New Zealand, and Australia.
The conference noticed and recognised that one of the reasons of impending third world war would be the problems created by destruction of major rivers across various countries – The death or destruction of rivers results in emigration in search of water and wage / lively hood and in turn crisis leading to war under some or other pretext. This calamity can be overcome if India becomes a leader by creating footprint of revival of dead or destroyed rovers, and by preventing and ensuring the revival of rivers which are on the path of extinction.
The conference unanimously passed a resolution stating that “it is necessary to take measures to create and spread awareness about water, air and environment conservation and about practical use of water.
