New Delhi: The President today appointed former home secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla as the Governor of the troubled state of Manipur. Bhalla is a retired 1984-batch Indian Administrative Service officer.
The President also effected a gubernatorial reshuffle bringing Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan to Bihar and sending Bihar Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar to Kerala.
According to a President House press communique, the President also accepted the resignation of Raghubar Das as Governor of Odisha. Das, a former chief minister of Jharkhand is replaced by Dr Hari Babu Kabhampati as Odisha Governor. Kabhampati until now was the Governor of Mizoram. He is replaced by former Union Minister General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh (Retired), as the next Governor of Mizoram.
The new appointments will take effect from the dates they assume charge of their respective offices, the communique said.
