Bombay Grilled Sandwich
The iconic Bombay grilled sandwich is a beloved street food that is a favourite among Mumbaikars. It is available in almost every street corner and is known for its spicy and tangy flavour.
Ingredients
(Serving for 2 to 3 persons)
For the green chutney
Coriander leaves: 1 cup
Mint leaves: ½ cup
Green chilli: 2 to 3
Garlic: 2 clove
Ginger: 1 inch
Lemon juice: 1 tsp
Salt to taste
For the sandwich
White bread: 8 slices
Potato: 1 boiled and sliced
Cucumber: 1 thinly sliced
Tomato: 1 sliced
Onion: 1 thinly sliced
Beetroot: 1 small boiled and sliced
Grated cheese: ½ cup
Chaat masala to taste
Black salt to taste
Pepper: 1 tsp
Step 1
Prepare the green chutney by grinding coriander and mint leaves, green chili, garlic, ginger, lemon juice and salt into a smooth paste.
Step 2
To assemble the sandwich butter one side of each bread generously. Spread a layer of green chutney over the buttered side.
Step 3
Layer the potato slices over the chutney and sprinkle black salt and chaat masala over it.
Step 4
Add cucumber slices on top of the potato followed by tomato slices and then onion and beetroot slices.
Step 5
Sprinkle grated cheese generously over the vegetables. Cover with the remaining four slices of bread, buttered side down.
Step 6
Preheat the sandwich maker and grill the sandwich until it is golden brown and crispy. Cut the sandwich into halves and serve hot with garlic chutney.
