New Delhi: The President of India today appointed Dr C.V. Ananda Bose as the regular Governor of West Bengal, a Rashtrapati Bhawan press communique stated here today.
Dr Bose’s appointment will take effect from the date he assumes charge of his office.
It may be mentioned that Manipur Governor La Ganesan was holding the additional charge of West Bengal since July 2022 as incumbent Jagdeep Dhankhar became a candidate of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and subsequently got elevated to the post of the Vice President of India.
71-year-old Bose is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer of the 1977 batch. He was an officer of the Kerala cadre who held the rank of Secretary to the Government of India, Chief Secretary, and University Vice-Chancellor. As the Administrator of the National Museum, he launched a 100-day programme which spelt out specific measures to revamp and revitalise the institution. Most of the improvements suggested were achieved in 60 days, such as opening the closed-down galleries, modernising the display and lighting, launching outreach programmes to take the Museum to the community, arranging children’s programmes to ignite young minds to the greatness of India’s national heritage, organising international exhibitions and launching the People’s Museum movement.
