Antananarivo: India and Madagascar will enhance cooperation in the health sector including in the field of traditional medicine and explore close cooperation between the two countries in the field of Ayurveda. India has already made an offer to provide free Covid vaccines to Madagascar, as per Madagascar’s needs.
India and Madagascar will also explore opportunities for importing more medicines from India to Madagascar, India being the pharmacy of the world and one of the largest pharma producers.
Briefing media persons after a meeting with Prof. Zely Arivelo RANDRIAMANANTAN, Minister of Public Health of Madagascar, Indian Ambassador Abhay Kumar informed that there will also be a health agreement to further develop the public health sector in Madagascar.
India is further considering supporting the maintenance of the “Radiotherapy Machine”, which it has donated to Madagascar, for the treatment of cancer for another year, he said.
A large number of people from Madagascar travel to India on medical visas to avail world-class health facilities in India. India and Madagascar are considering a direct flight between the two countries to further deepen travel, trade, and medical tourism, Ambassador Kumar said.
