Vijayan waits while Assam BJP yet to decide its CM candidate
Chennai/Puduchery/Kolkata: Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’s MK Stalin took oath as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu today and ushered in a cabinet of 34 members, four more than the number of ministers in the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’s outgoing E Palani Swamy government. There were two women members in the cabinet.

In the neighbouring Union Territory of Puducherry, N Rangaswamy of the All India N.R. Congress (AINRC) was administered oath as Chief Minister by Lieutenant Governor Dr. T Soundarrajan. He however was the only one to take oath. His cabinet is expected to take oath later.
Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee, took oath as Chief Minister of West Bengal in a simple ceremony at the Kolkata Raj Bhavan for the third consecutive term.
At the time of going to press, the neighbouring Assam, which had returned the Bharatiya Janata Party to power was yet undecided on the chief ministership.
In Kerala, Pinayari Vijayan of Communist Party of India (Marxist) – led Left Democratic Front has slated his swearing in along with his cabinet for May 20 owing to the constraints imposed by the pandemic.
