New Delhi: Strong tremors were felt in the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) and eastern and northern India as an earthquake of 7.2 magnitude on the Richter scale struck the Xinjiang region of China at 23:39:11 (IST) today, the National Center for Seismology, said. Xinjiang borders the Ladakh region of India.
The tremors lasted for quite some time forcing panicked residents to rush out of their houses on the chilly night.
“We also felt tremors were also felt in Patna,” said a local resident there. The extent of damage is not yet ascertained.
