Palghar: A five-days complete lockdown has been declared in Palghar city from Friday after 100 plus Covid positive cases have been found in the last three days.

The lockdown between August 14 to 18, will see all shops and markets, including fish and meat, completely shut. Medical and dairy shops will be allowed to function as per their normal timing. All industrial units, except those in the manufacture of essential products, will remain shut. Hotels engaged in home delivery will also remain shut.
The restrictions will be relaxed for a few hours on Independence Day Saturday to allow people to hoist flags by maintaining social distancing and donning masks.
During the shutdown, no private vehicles will be allowed to be on the roads. Petrol pumps cannot sell fuel to private vehicles. Government and essential services vehicles will be allowed on the roads, stated the order issued by the Palghar district administration.
Banks and post offices will remain open and customers will have to be provided tokens.
Other cities in the district, including Vasai-Virar region, Dahanu, Jawhar, Mokhada, Talasari, Vikramgad and Wada will continue to operate as per the existing restrictions, that include shops on odd-even pattern. Malls, shopping complexes, gyms, swimming pools remain shut.
While Vasai-Virar, which has been the hotspot of Covid, has managed to control the spread of the virus with rigorous testing, the Palghar Municipal Council limit has seen a spike in cases. It has added 888 new patients in 12 days. In the last three days from August 10, PMC has reported over 100 fresh cases.
The district total on Tuesday touched 18,607, of which rural Palghar has 4,793 cases. In rural Palghar, the PMC has the maximum cases, followed by Dahanu with 745 cases. Vasai rural has 663 cases while Wada has 521 cases.
