Guwahati: Just about 53 hours after a mild earthquake of 3.8 magnitude hit Bongaigaon in Assam on September 19, another earthquake of a comparatively larger intensity of 4.4 magnitude hit the state today at 01:28:31 (IST).
The epicentre was at the depth of 5.0 km, 44 km. west of Guwahati and 11 km from Sarthebari at 26.1449° latitude and 91.2872º longitude.
Details of the extent of damage is awaited.
